Congress Moves to Protect Elders from Fraud

Congress is considering bills that would have the FTC take a stronger role in protecting elders from fraud and scams. The Senate bill would direct the FTC to increase monitoring, response to complaints, and outreach and education about scams that target seniors’ assets. The House bill focuses on fraud and scams targeting elder Americans in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. Both bills command bi-partisan support.
